Joe Cotchett doesn’t shy away from a challenge, even though he didn’t attend USF, he live out USF values daily in his dedication to service. Cotchett has dedicated his legal career to advocating for consumers, workers, children, and those whose voices have been underrepresented. First of all, I am all about education. The world begins and ends in education. USF is always changing, always growing, always developing, always bringing in a new sense of being. I just think a whole campus radiates friendship and education. USF takes people that need a voice, it’s ways I do as a lawyer, I would like to think I give a voice to those that have no voice. Among his many accolades in 2019 he was named Consumer Attorney of the Year for his 20 year fight against lead paint manufacturers. Cotchett has been honored by disability rights advocates and inducted into many legal halls of fame. It’s all about education. Look at where we are today in the world. Look at the aspects of what USF has done to make the world a better place to live. Change the world from here means to me it represents everything that USF stands for. For leading with service and for giving a voice to the voiceless USF honors Joseph Cotchett with the Cable Car Award.
